The XY-280 super biochemical sponge filter provides both mechanical and biological filtration, it is a very easy filter to clean and maintain.
Sponge filters are air driven filters which means that an air pump is required to operate, otherwise this filter can be used in conjunction with other filters.
These filters are very good for fry (baby fish), shrimp and betta tanks, or any other speices that prefers a low water flow.
With a large air pump or blower multiple sponge filters can be used for multiple tanks making them the preferred filtration choice among breeders
